On March 1st, 2019, a digital device for expecting mothers and the region-based program for helping the mothers during the pregnancy and the baby’s first-year were simultaneously released by the Tuscany Region authority for public healthcare - Servizio Sanitario della Regione Toscana. The new hAPPyMom is a mobile application software developed by the researchers of Sant’Anna School MeS Lab for health services management. The Android and iOS application (free download) is available across Tuscany giving essential information for having a healthy pregnancy and childbirth.

Available in multiple languages, hAPPyMom is not a replacement for doctors or professionals. It relays information to pregnant women on how to access to health care services, hospitals and pregnancy-related point of care. The app reminds mothers of important pregnancy milestones, tailored health alerts and appointments. It provides a digital diary to track the stage of pregnancy and the baby’s growth.

Through the SPID digital identity access, expecting mothers subscribe to information service on prenatal care, vaccines and personalized health log.

This new application, developed by researchers and experts in the health services management to improve the lives of mothers, also allows the user to update the doctor’s examination throughout the weeks of pregnancy. The innovative additional feature about the application is the enhanced health care accessibility, affordability and practicality in Tuscany. A mobile device to enhance the practice of public health, providing information, facilitating consultation and high quality comprehensive care through a phone.
